This intriguing biopic stars Walter Huston as Cecil Rhodes, a 19th-century British adventurer who travels to Africa to seek his fortune. After developing a successful diamond mining industry, Rhodes attempts to construct a continent-wide railroad. Rhodes's plans meet with disapproval, including his desire to make Rhodesia a British colony, but he perseveres, thereby making a mortal enemy of Dutch Prime Minister Paul Kruger (Oskar Homolka).
